DMA Group named a 2026 WIRED x HSBC UK Trailblazer
We are delighted to announce that DMA Group has been recognised as a 2026 WIRED x HSBC UK Trailblazer in the Business Services category for 2026.
Now in its fifth year, the Trailblazers programme is run by WIRED Consulting in partnership with HSBC UK. It recognises UK small and medium-sized businesses that are driving innovation, growth and positive change in their sectors. There is no application process. WIRED’s research team reviewed around 300 businesses across the UK and selected this year’s cohort of around 80, spread across four sectors: business services, health, technology and manufacturing.
WIRED first came across DMA through our Highly Commended recognition at the i-FM Technology in FM Awards. What held their attention was BiO®, our maintenance management platform we built ourselves.
BiO® was designed by people who run maintenance, unlike the established CAFM systems built by software houses majoring on features rather than better outcomes. Having used those platforms for over 25 years, and frustrated with constant workarounds and offline data, we spent 8 years developing BiO®. It’s automated all our operational workflows and gives our teams, our service partners and our customers real-time visibility of performance, compliance and cost across their estate. Today it’s manages more than 40,000 assets across 2,400+ sites, with 1,800 active users and has saved us more than 20,000 hours a year.
Built by operators, designed around people and proven in operation, BiO® has already been recognised by winning Best SME-Led Innovation at the IWFM Awards in 2024. Being selected by a leading technology publication, alongside businesses from logistics, recruitment and professional services, is a different kind of test, and a welcome one.
On Thursday 24 September, our Executive Chairman Steve McGregor joined this year’s Business Services Trailblazers at a breakfast event in London hosted by WIRED and HSBC UK. The morning included talks from Irene Graham OBE, CEO of the ScaleUp Institute, HSBC UK Economist Emma Wilks, and Mark Logan OBE, former COO of Skyscanner, followed by discussion on what it takes to scale a UK business.
Steve said:
”We built BiO® because the systems available to us weren't designed by people who knew maintenance. So, we built one around how it really works, and made sure our customers could see the data for themselves. Being recognised by WIRED and HSBC UK for that is a real credit to the team behind it. It was also a genuinely insightful morning, spending time with other growing UK businesses working through the same challenges we are.

DMA’s Trailblazer profile will appear on WIRED’s Scale-Up Knowledge Hub alongside previous Trailblazers. Our thanks go to WIRED Consulting and HSBC UK for the recognition, and congratulations to everyone selected in this year’s cohort.
