Supporting the Port of Dover – A Partnership in Excellence

We believe in making buildings work better, and our partnership with the Port of Dover is an example of our commitment to this ethos. Over the past year, DMA Group has been honoured to provide a multi-million-pound, multi-year framework agreement for building maintenance and M&E services across the Port’s extensive estate. This partnership covers planned maintenance, 24/7 reactive repairs, small works, and major projects, delivering comprehensive support for one of the UK’s most critical transport hubs. Powered by our own digital service management platform, BiO®, our fully automated business processes now provide completely transparent, real-time performance data to help c.300 buildings, across 4 sq. miles, work better.

The Vital Role of the Port of Dover

The Port of Dover, known as the ‘Gateway to Europe’, handles an impressive volume of traffic and trade each year, including around 2.5 million lorries and 2 million cars. Beyond the ferry terminals, the Port also operates a state-of-the-art cargo terminal, award-winning cruise and marina facilities, and a diverse estate of around 300 buildings spread across 4.5 square miles.

Transforming Service Delivery Through Innovation

DMA Group began this journey with the Port of Dover in January 2022. Since then, we have worked closely with our customer to implement a significantly re-engineered service delivery model, powered by our digital service management platform, BiO®. BiO® provides real-time, transparent data to all stakeholders, anytime, anywhere, and on any device, giving unparalleled control, visibility, and efficiency in service delivery. Our innovative approach has allowed us to address and overcome previous operational challenges and elevate service standards to new heights.

Collaboration for Continuous Improvement

A standout feature of this partnership has been our shared dedication to collaboration and continuous improvement. Over the past year, DMA and Port of Dover teams have engaged in dynamic workshops, bringing together stakeholders from operations, project management, asset management, finance, and commercial teams. These sessions have fostered a shared commitment to optimising service quality and compliance, culminating in transformative results that have won praise from our client.

Round-the-Clock Support for a Critical UK Hub

DMA’s dedicated resident team at the Port works around the clock to support the facilities that keep this vital gateway running smoothly. In addition to M&E services, we now also cover fabric maintenance, extending our reach to every corner of this essential UK landmark. Our work at the Port includes ensuring the smooth operation of the cargo terminal, which handles fresh produce daily, adjacent to the ferry terminal offering 120 crossings per day with the shortest link to European markets.

Most recently, we were delighted to attend a charter signing event at the Port of Dover Cruise Terminal in what was once Dover Western Docks rail terminus. The event was attended by representatives from both teams that have collaborated so well at every level to deliver a revitalised and improved service delivery model. We were proud to receive such positive reinforcement of the contribution our DMA teams have made over the last 12 months.

Looking Ahead – Building a Resilient Future Together

Looking ahead, we are excited to deepen our partnership with the Port of Dover. Together, we are driving forward with a vision of smarter, more efficient, and transparent facilities management. We are proud of the role our talented team and advanced technology play in keeping the Port of Dover’s operations resilient, reliable, and ready for the future.
