The UK has achieved a 30%+ decrease in CO2 emissions over the past decade whilst our economy grew by 20%. Alongside that we’ve achieved much wider public awareness of the challenges we all face, as organisations, as communities and as individuals. We simply must change!
The research behind the headline claim suggests some over-exaggeration, which is a real shame, but I struggle to reconcile that this has been done by design. However, it does confirm that those companies are recognising the increasing customer importance placed upon doing the right thing for our planet.
They will obviously need to answer for their actions, but the rest of us just need to carry on, because it’s a climate emergency we’re dealing with, not commercial brand management. Nevertheless, we were pleased to be invited to comment.
