We believe in growing talent from the ground up. Our Apprenticeship Programme is designed to equip individuals with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to build successful careers in building services and facilities management.

Whether you’re interested in engineering, plumbing, construction & project management, or business administration, our apprenticeships offer a carefully balanced blend of on-the-job training, industry qualifications, and one-to-one mentorship.

How It Works

We work with a range of vetted training providers to deliver tailored apprenticeship pathways across multiple disciplines. Our internal team manages the enrolment process in collaboration with each college or provider.

Apprentices are typically required to complete an initial assessment in Maths and English before starting their course. In some cases, existing qualifications may be accepted in place of this assessment. Training is delivered both on-site and via college-based or virtual learning, depending on the course structure.

We receive regular progress updates from training providers, and our line managers maintain open communication with tutors to ensure each apprentice is supported throughout their journey.

A Holistic Approach to Development

Supporting our apprentices goes beyond technical training. Pastoral care is a key part of our programme, helping our young talent navigate their early careers with confidence and resilience. We foster a workplace culture where apprentices feel safe, valued, and heard, and have the emotional and professional support they need to thrive.

Apprentice Spotlight: Alfie Dickson

From passion to profession with DMA Group

Meet Alfie, one of our standout Apprentice Maintenance Engineers who joined DMA Group through our structured apprenticeship programme in partnership with Choice Training. With a background in engineering and carpentry, Alfie quickly impressed both peers and mentors with his hands-on ability, work ethic, and hunger to learn.

Since starting in 2024, he’s become an integral part of our team. He’s won our Rising Star Award and is making a real impact on our Housing21 contract. Alfie’s journey is a brilliant example of how our apprenticeship scheme nurtures young talent through technical training, real-world experience, and strong pastoral support.

It’s been great being part of the DMA team. I feel like people really trust me and want to see me do well. I get proper hands-on experience and I’m always learning something new. I’ve made some great mates here too.

Apprentice Maintenance Engineer

Alfie Dickson

Alfie Dickson joined DMA Group on 5th March 2024 as an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer. He is currently completing a Building Services apprenticeship with Choice Training, a leading training provider that delivers hands-on, career-driven education in Plumbing & Heating, Electrical, Service & Maintenance, and Heating & Ventilation. Their ethos of care, student-first support and excellent employer relationships aligns well with our values at DMA.

Alfie’s path into facilities management was inspired by a love of tinkering and repair work, often practiced in his grandad’s shed. From the beginning of his education journey, Alfie has demonstrated an impressive ability to turn challenges into personal strengths, developing resilience, maintaining calm under pressure, and consistently seeing the bigger picture when solving problems. These qualities have made him a standout addition to the DMA team.

Before joining DMA, Alfie studied Carpentry & Joinery Level 1 at Mid Kent College and previously achieved a Merit in Engineering Level 1 at Greenacre Academy. He also gained hands-on experience in previous roles at Halfords and BLP Maintenance, where he built skills in customer service, labouring, and workplace safety.
Alfie came to DMA through a personal introduction from our long-standing customer at Leigh Academies Trust. While DMA Group works proactively with apprenticeship programmes and schools, including The Leigh UTC, we also value personal recommendations. Alfie’s story is a great example of how strong relationships with our customers can lead to exciting new talent joining our team.

Since joining DMA, Alfie has been assigned predominantly to our Housing21 contract, working alongside experienced DMA engineers Ricky Freed, Lee Derbyshire, Deve Shokar, and Richard Courtney. Despite being new to the industry, Alfie has made a powerful impression in a very short period of time.
