Protecting People and Property: DMA Maintenance Joins the BSIA to Strengthen DMA’s Facilities Management Offering.
DMA Maintenance, is proud to have been accepted into membership in the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), as their newest principal member in the Security Services Section. The BSIA is the trade association for the professional security industry in the UK and is known as “the voice of the professional security industry”. The BSIA’s mission is to support and encourage excellence, educate the market on the value of quality security, and create an environment for the industry to thrive.
Our Fire & Security services sit within our wider Facilities Management business unit and our BSIA membership reinforces our commitment to quality, compliance, and industry best practice, enhancing the value and assurance we provide across all FM services.
As we continue to grow our capabilities in fire detection, intruder protection, access control and compliance, we are committed to stay at the forefront of safety and security standards. We believe in making buildings work better. That means protecting the people who use them and the infrastructure itself, not as an afterthought, but as a fundamental part of our service.
To mark this milestone, we’re exploring how DMA Group is uniquely placed to support building safety, not just through technology, but through culture, systems and partnerships.
Rethinking Security in the Built Environment
When people think of safety and security, they often picture security guards or surveillance cameras. While these tools are important, they are just one part of a much wider picture. In today’s complex environment, safety and security cannot be seen in isolation. They must be part of a joined-up strategy that runs through every part of the building. That’s exactly where facilities management providers play a crucial role.
Facilities Management as a Safety Partner
Facilities management today covers far more than maintenance and cleaning. It is about the day-to-day operation of a building and that includes managing the risks to people and property. We take a fully integrated approach that combines energy & sustainability, engineering services, project management, fire and security expertise, and digital monitoring through our proprietary workforce management system, BiO®.
What BSIA Membership Means for Our Customers
The BSIA represents the UK’s professional security industry and sets the benchmark for excellence. For our customers, this offers reassurance that our services are delivered with full regulatory compliance, that our engineers and technicians meet industry-recognised training standards, and that we are focused on improving the safety and security of the environments we manage.
The systems and procedures we install are often silent protectors. From fire alarms and intruder detection systems to access control and CCTV, many of these services are working constantly in the background, often unnoticed. But when needed, they become critical. Our team is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of these systems to ensure that they function exactly as intended, especially during an emergency.
We understand that each site is unique, and our approach is always tailored to its context. For example, in locations where vulnerable people live, work or learn, the safeguarding of those individuals is a top priority. We implement systems that are sensitive to the needs of users, such as discreet access control, fire detection solutions designed for historic environments and lockdown-ready alarms. In heritage settings, we use non-invasive methods that preserve architectural integrity while still providing full protection. In operational environments like schools, hospitals, or older estates, we consider how users move through a space and ensure the security design enhances rather than disrupts the day-to-day experience.
But the hardware is just one part of the equation. True safety also relies on people, culture and communication. Our teams work closely with site staff to deliver training, carry out regular inspections, and build a culture of awareness. Our workforce management system BiO® supports this by giving customers complete oversight of their compliance and safety tasks. With real-time visibility of asset condition, task completion and inspection records, BiO® provides the transparency and accountability that is essential in risk-sensitive environments.
One Approach, Many Applications
Safety and security don’t look the same in every building, but our approach remains consistent. We listen, assess and adapt. Whether we’re operating in a modern campus, a community healthcare centre or a listed property, our goal is to create secure and resilient spaces that work for everyone who uses them.
Looking Ahead: Evolving Challenges, Evolving Solutions
Looking ahead, we know that the risks buildings face is changing. The role of facilities management is evolving too. From climate change and technology integration to increasing legislative pressures, the demands on FM providers have never been higher. That is why we continue to invest in training, innovation and partnerships like our DMA Maintenance membership with the BSIA. It allows us to stay ahead of emerging risks and bring the very best practices to the buildings we manage.
Protecting people and property is not an isolated function. It is a shared responsibility. Our customers don’t just get a service provider, they gain a trusted partner who is committed to creating safe, compliant and future-ready spaces.
